Non-Zero November ’16 – Day 12 – A quick trip to town

I felt a bit mopey today so to get me out of my funk, we decided to get out of the house and go to town. A quick shower and a slick of mascara later, I’m ready.

After a quick look in our local comic shop, we headed to Debenhams. I’m not sure why, but I just wanted a look in there. I wandered over to a section I don’t normally care about and lo and behold, there was a tiny Laura Geller stand, with the baked foundation I had seen on QVC. With an extra 10% off. So I grabbed it and headed to the till. Next, a quick stop at the new shopping center, just to see how pretty it was in the dark.

Very fancy.

Still basking in the glow of my find, we headed to the Christmas Market that pops up this time each year to grab one of the German Sausages they’re known for. This thing was easily 18inches long; it was ridiculous. But my word was it tasty. Once finished, we wandered round the rest of the market, only to be disappointed that it seems to have shrunk in size compared to last year. By the looks if it, there are less stands in order to create bigger paths, extra tables for the beer and mulled wine bars, and room for the new live band stage.

One of the market stalls.

As neither of us drink, we left the Market and went to Waterstones for a coffee. I didn’t feel like being awake for a week, so I ordered a plain hot chocolate. I was really looking forward to it as I had a hot chocolate with the works last week, and it was amazing, but I didn’t fancy that much cream this time. I should have stayed with the fancy one as this was a bit bitter – as if it was made with dark chocolate. The salted caramel brownie was still very nice, so I was content.

The hot chocolate.

I love sitting in Cafe W, Waterstone’s own cafe, as I’m surrounded by the gentle hum of chatter, the clinking of cups on saucers and the smell of coffee and books mingling together. Its a comfortable place.

Now we’re sat at home, all cosied up and watching a film. Today was a good day.
